“What’s in a name?”
The Dow Jones industrial average is named after real people. Charles Henry Dow and Edward Jones met while they both worked for newspapers in Providence, R.I. Dow left to take a job as a reporter at a financial news bureau on Wall Street, and the bureau hired Jones on Dow’s recommendation. In November 1882, they started their own financial reporting firm in the basement of a candy store, publishing a two-page summary of the day’s financial news called the “Customers’ Afternoon Letter.”

History made, again.
NBA legend Michael Jordan celebrated his recent 60th birthday by making a historic $10 million donation to Make-A-Wish America. t’s the largest individual contribution the organization has received in its 43-year history.

The first rodeo.
Talks about forming a rodeo began with seven men who met for lunch at Houston’s Texas State Hotel in 1931. They aimed to raise the profile of the Gulf Coast cattle industry and help it prosper as the Great Depression raged. In 1932, the first rodeo only attracted 2,000 attendees (giving out free BBQ and shows to do so) and lost $2,800.
